Spherical titanium carbide (TiC) powder differs from ordinary-shaped TiC powder in that its most notable feature lies in the nearly spherical particle shape.

I. Material Properties
1. High hardness and wear resistance
Spherical TiC powder features extremely high hardness (Mohs hardness >9) and wear resistance, and is suitable for manufacturing hard alloy cutting tools, wear-resistant coatings, and strengthening materials for aviation components .
2. Thermal stability and electrical conductivity
The melting point reaches 3140℃, it is stable in air below 800℃, and has excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures. It also has electrical conductivity and can be used in high-temperature conductive scenarios such as molten salt electrolytic electrodes .
3. Advantages of spherical particles
The particle shape is close to spherical, with a high bulk density (4.93 g/cm³) and uniform particle size distribution (such as 15-53μm), which is conducive to sintering densification and fluidity optimization in 3D printing process .

Ii. Application Fields
1. Additive manufacturing (3D printing)
As the reinforcing phase of 3D printed metal matrix composites, it is used for the rapid prototyping of complex structural parts such as aero engine components and medical implants, improving the uniformity and compactness of the products .
2. Surface engineering
By means of laser cladding or plasma spraying technology, TIC-based wear-resistant coatings are formed on the surface of molds and cutting tools, significantly extending their service life (for example, the wear resistance of mining machinery parts is increased by 30%-50%) .
3. Cemented carbide and special tools
It can be combined with metals such as cobalt and nickel to prepare super-hard alloys, which are used in cutting tools, aviation brake materials and high-temperature wear-resistant components.
